John is a skilled stone carver and designer of carved stone. This website illustrates his work, and introduces ideas about design and commissioning stonework.
In February this year, a major public work design and carved by John was installed on the Isle of Portland. This comprised three 2 by 1 metre panels celebrating the history and continuing life of Portland. It was part of a re-development of an old stone working site which is to become social housing and a supermarket.
His work is currently on show at Lander's Quarry ( http://www.purbeckstone.co.uk/welcome.htm ) on Purbeck, Dorset.
John studied stone carving, letter cutting and masonry at Weymouth College, UK. He is qualified in architectural stonework and conservation and has worked as a building conservator on various historic building, such as, for example, Winchester Cathedral and Clavel Tower, Dorset, and on private dwellings in the south-west of England.
